Online Counselling in the Bow Valley

Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise: start with the right kind of help.

Do you need time to work through a recurring concern, support with something that feels urgent, or advice about safety in a relationship? Those questions lead to different services. This guide separates the routes so you can make a useful first enquiry.

Alberta Men's Counselling offers online counselling for men and teen boys in the Bow Valley. Sessions are online; we do not have a Banff, Canmore or Lake Louise office.

Ask about an online appointment

For a planned conversation

When you want to explore stress, difficult emotions or recurring relationship patterns, ask about our counselling for men. Parents and young people can explore teen counselling. Describe the concern and check fit, availability and fees before booking.

Prefer a local public-service route? The official listings for Banff Community Health Centre and Canmore Boardwalk Building describe community addiction and mental health assessment and goal-focused care. They direct individual counselling enquiries to Access Mental Health at 1-844-943-1500.

Ask which location and service would fit your situation, whether a referral is needed, and what the current wait is. A listed clinic address is not a promise of a walk-in counselling appointment.

Urgent support uses a different route

Urgent Mental Health at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital lists assessment and single-session therapy without an appointment, through Urgent Care registration and triage. Its address is 305 Lynx Street; listed hours are 2-9 p.m. daily. The service number is 403-762-4451. Demand affects waiting, and this service does not provide medication changes.

The Canmore community-service listing also identifies an urgent mental health walk-in service at Canmore General Hospital, 2-9 p.m. daily. Check the linked official service information for current access before travelling when it is safe to do so. For immediate danger or a medical emergency, call 911 rather than waiting for counselling hours.

Keep the destinations separate: Banff's community clinic is listed at 303 Lynx Street; the hospital urgent service is at 305 Lynx Street. Canmore's community clinic is at 743 Railway Avenue, not the hospital. Confirm the actual destination when an appointment is arranged.

When the question is relationship safety

You may be unsure whether what is happening is unhealthy or abusive. YWCA Banff's supportive counselling programme includes people questioning the health of a relationship, people who have experienced violence, and people supporting someone affected. Its page describes Bow Valley coverage, including Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise, with virtual meetings when needed.

Ask the programme directly about suitability and a safe way to contact you. Its counselling information number is 403-762-3560; the listed 24-hour crisis line is 403-760-3200. These are independent services, not branches of or partners with our clinic.

Make a plan that survives a change of address

If you expect to move between communities or leave Alberta, mention that before arranging a series of sessions. Ask whether care can continue from your new location, who will handle any referral, and how you will receive the plan. Online access does not automatically mean a provider can treat you wherever you travel.

For a teen, include questions about consent, parent involvement and what information is shared. If a private room is unavailable, discuss that before booking; a quiet-looking space may still be overheard. These are planning questions, not assumptions about your home or work.

Your next enquiry

Try: "I am in the Bow Valley, I want help with this concern, and I am looking for planned counselling rather than urgent care. What is the next step?" If the need is urgent or involves safety, say so plainly and use the appropriate route above.

Contact Alberta Men's Counselling about an online session. You can ask questions before deciding. Local access details were checked October 8, 2026; providers can change their arrangements.
